EVA M. DeFRANCO practices primarily in the areas of Divorce Mediation, Collaborative Divorce. She is a member of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, the Connecticut Bar Association, and past president of the Danbury Bar Association, serving as the chairperson of the Danbury Family Bar Association for over a decade. In recognition of her leadership and service to the legal community, Attorney DeFranco was elected as a James W. Cooper Fellow. She has earned the AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

Attorney DeFranco is committed to helping her clients reduce the turmoil inherent in the divorce process while protecting their rights. She earned her certification as a divorce mediator in 2007 and a collaborative divorce attorney in 2005 in order to offer more options to her clients. Attorney DeFranco is the founding member of the Collaborative Divorce Group of Western Connecticut and a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. She is a Board Member and past President of the Connecticut Council for Non-Adversarial Divorce and a certified advanced practitioner of the Academy of Professional Family Mediators. She is a trainer for the Connecticut Family Mediation Training Group and regularly trains lawyers, mental health professionals and divorce financial planners in mediation.


Attorney DeFranco has mediated over 150 cases to successful conclusion. She has been a collaborative team member in dozens of collaborative cases. She has been honored for her substantial contributions to best practices in mediation and collaborative divorce by the Connecticut Council for Non-Adversarial Divorce. She regularly trains lawyers, financial professionals and mental health professionals in mediation skills.

Attorney DeFranco believes in a flexible approach to mediation to meet the needs of her clients. While she is mindful of her clients' desires to reach genuine agreement in a cost-effective manner, she is also sensitive to the relative needs of her clients to process information and make reasoned decisions based on all relevant information available. Attorney DeFranco has been practicing divorce law for over 30 years and brings all of her substantive experience to help clients create their own agreements that are in the best interests of their families.
