Description of Practice
Even in situations where you believe resolution without court intervention is impossible, I've assisted parties in resolving parenting, property distribution and financial support issues in connection with their separation and divorce. We accomplish this by listening carefully, and finding creative ways to meet the needs of both parties. Because I am an attorney, I can provide legal information applicable to your situation which creates a framework for your discussion. If there are children, their best interests are always "at the table" and never overlooked. My job is also to help clarify the parties' issues so they can put their hands around each task and complete what needs to be done in the least painful way.
I am an advanced practitioner member of the Academy of Family Mediators and a practicing attorney since 1985. I have been certified by the NYS Unified Court System as a mediation trainer, through which I trained hundreds of lawyers, judges, therapists and community members in mediation. I am also a member of the NJ Association of Professional Mediators, as well as an advanced practitioner member of the NYS Council for Divorce Mediation.
I am a former professor of mediation at Brooklyn Law School and the former Director of Victim Services Mediation Program, which mediated over 5000 cases annually in New York City. I also served on the Board of Directors for the Family and Divorce Mediation Council of Greater New York.
Before turning to mediation, I practiced corporate law for two nationally known law firms in New York and San Francisco, negotiating hundreds of large and small corporate transactions.
