Professional Background

Dawn Marie is a mediator and attorney and a member of the Florida Bar, for the last 19 years. Dawn Marie is certified in Family Law and Circuit Civil Mediations, including Foreclosure. Dawn Marie's undergraduate degrees are in Criminology, Sociology and Child Psychology and she as worked for the 12th Judicial Circuit State Attorney's office, The Florida Department of Children and Families and two different legal aid offices. This makes Dawn Marie a great choice for your mediator where she can put her experience to work for you.

Experience

Dawn Marie Bates-Buchanan has mediated more than 200 cases either as an attorney or mediator in either family law, foreclosure or civil claims (property damage) as well as Bankruptcy Modification Mediation in Chapter 13 cases. Dawn Marie is a mediator for the Chief Financial Office of the State of Florida, as well as an arbitrator for the Attorney General's Office, Lemon Law Division.

Degrees

Dawn Marie Bates-Buchanan has a Associates of Science degree in Paralegal Studies from Manatee Community College, a Bachelors of Science in Criminology, Sociology and Child Psychology from the University of South Florida and a Juris Doctorate from Stetson University College of Law. Dawn Marie also has extensive education and training in Family Law, Elder Law, Circuit Civil, Foreclosure and Family Law Mediation, as well as Collaborative Law.

Dawn Marie believes that every case can be mediated and that parties that can settle find more satisfaction that allowing a Court to dictate to them how things are going to be and spending thousands of dollars to get that decision. Dawn Marie believes that people need to be a part of their case and have their voice heard and will help parties do that and still look for solutions. Fees

Family Law Mediation Fee Schedule: Meditation: $250.00 per hour, minimum of two hours. Drafting Marital Settlement Agreement: $500.00 Drafting Parenting Plan and Preparing Child Support Guidelines: $650.00 additionally. Preparing other Required Documents for your Judicial Circuit for filing a Dissolution of Marriage action: $550.00 Mediation Packages: •Divorce - No Children: $1,250.00 Includes up to four hours of mediation; Marital Settlement Agreement; Preparing other Required Documents for your Judicial Circuit for filing a Dissolution of Marriage action. •Divorce - With Children: $1,750 Includes up to five hours of mediation; Marital Settlement Agreement; Parenting Plan and Child Support Guidelines; Preparing other Required Documents for your Judicial Circuit for filing a Dissolution of Marriage action. •Unmarried Parents (Paternity): $1,450 Includes up to four hours of mediation; Parenting Plan and Child Support Guidelines; Preparing other Required Documents for your Judicial Circuit for filing a Dissolution of Marriage action. •Modification: $1,500 Includes up to four hours of mediation; Parenting Plan and Child Support Guidelines; Preparing other Required Documents for your Judicial Circuit for filing a Modification. Any mediation additional time, over four hours, needed to reach an agreement will be billed at the standard hourly rate.

Other Information

Although Primary Partner of the law firm, Dawn Marie still contracted with Gulfcoast Legal Services to provide legal assistance to low income persons with foreclosure issues until November of 2011 and she continues to work for and with the community by serving on the Board of Directors for the Manatee County Bar Association, Manatee Children's Services and served on Citizen Review with the Manatee County Clerk of the Court.
