Attorney Karen J. Levitt is the founder and principal of the Levitt Law Group, which is devoted exclusively to family law. Karen has over 30 years of experience both in and out of court. In addition to being a mediator and collaborative practitioner, Karen also serves as guardian ad item, and presents nationally on all aspects of family law and conflict resolution as a guest lecturer, presenter, trainer and writer. Karen works closely with clients to help them understand their options, and to help them find a resolution that will best meet their goals. Karen's services include the areas of divorce, post-divorce, alimony and child support, parenting plans, and division of assets including real estate, retirement, trusts and inheritances, and family owned businesses in divorce, paternity and guardianship. Karen has a law degree from Boston University School of Law, is a founder and past President of the Massachusetts Collaborative Law Council, and has served on the board of the Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. Karen has also been a member of the Massachusetts Trial Court Standing Committee on Dispute Resolution.

Professional Background

Karen J. Levitt is an attorney, collaborative practitioner, and certified mediator through the Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation. Karen is a founder as well as a past President of the Massachusetts Collaborative Law Council (MCLC), and has served on the MCLC board for many years. She is a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Practitioners (IACP) and has been on a number of their committees. Karen serves as a member of the Massachusetts Trial Court Standing Committee on Dispute Resolution. She is a past president of the Greater Lowell Bar Association, a former board member of the Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation, and a founding member of the Merrimack Valley Mediators Group. Karen is a graduate of the University of Rochester and Boston University School of Law, and is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. She has been active in designing and presenting educational programs in collaborative practice and mediation to attorneys and allied professionals both locally and nationally. Ms. Levitt has been named three years in a row as one of the best collaborative family law attorneys by “The Best Lawyers in America.”

Karen has over 20 years experience in dispute resolution, including Mediation and Collaborative Law. She has also served as a court conciliator for many years, in both Middlesex and Essex counties.
