Description of Practice

Mr. Rosborough is an elder mediator and advisor, helping individuals and families with a wide range of issues, from health care to estate succession, from immediate crisis to advance planning. He brings his background as an attorney and his skill as a mediator not only to full-blown disputes but also to advising individuals and families who are navigating the stress of planning and decision-making in an area fraught with emotion and uncertainty. He has experienced firsthand the confusion and conflict that can arise from the wide array of challenges associated with aging, from managing health care for a loved one to creating an estate plan to taking a parent’s car keys away. He helps clients clarify and understand their options, communicate constructively and effectively within the family and with outside professionals, and ultimately make decisions and reach agreements that work best for them.

Mr. Rosborough graduated summa cum laude from Yale in 1982 and from Stanford Law School in 1985. He practiced law at Pillsbury Madison & Sutro in San Francisco for many years before becoming a mediator after caring first for a parent with AIDS and then one with Alzheimer’s, experiencing the innumerable attendant challenges and family conflicts.

He practices in Marin, San Francisco and throughout the Bay Area.

He is a runner, cyclist, occasional scuba diver, meditation teacher, avid reader, writer and classical pianist.

Professional Background

Mr. Rosborough was an environmental compliance lawyer with Pillsbury Madison & Sutro for many years. He then practiced on his own for several years, focusing on real estate law and ultimately stopped practicing in favor of being a mediator. He volunteers for Community Boards in San Francisco, the oldest community mediation organization in the country and for the San Francisco Office of Citizen Complaints, mediating disputes between the police and citizens who file complaints against them. He is a member of the Marin County Bar Association, the Bar Association of San Francisco and the Association for Dispute Resolution of Northern California.
