Description of Practice
Mrs. Hayes is the volunteer Executive Director and Secretary of Delaware Elder Mediation Services, Inc. (DEMSI (www.demsi.org)) a tax-exempt public charity offering conflict resolution services to the elderly and disabled. All matters involving the elderly or disabled will be handled through DEMSI other than Court appointments. Mrs. Hayes is available for mediations pursuant to court appointments or in matters not involving the elderly or disabled.
Mrs. Hayes was with the management company of the Columbia Gas System for 22 years and was Associate General Counsel responsible for securities and corporate law compliance and mergers and acquisitions. Mrs. Hayes has extensive understanding of corporate finance and corporate governance and basic business principles. Since 2008, Mrs. Hayes has been concentrating her volunteer efforts in the area of elder law and elder mediation. All mediation involving the elderly or disabled other than court appointments are referred to Delaware Elder Mediation Services, Inc., a public charity that offers free mediation for individuals.
Mrs. has has over 50 hours of mediation training including basic mediation training through the Delaware Superior Court and the University of Delaware (facilitative mediation training) and advanced elder mediation training through the Montgomery County Conflict Resolution Center (transformational mediation training). She has conducted numerous mediations in guardianship matters as a volunteer for the Court of Chancery and is a volunteer mediator for Delaware Elder Mediation Services, Inc.

Mrs. Hayes uses a blend of transformative and facilitative approaches to mediation in the hopes that the parties will gain insights into how to resolve future issues while resolving the most immediate problem.
Mrs. Hayes charges vary depending upon the complexity of the matter with a basic per hour fee of $150. However, all mediations through Delaware Elder Mediation Services are as a volunteer.
